Alex S. Vitale | Coordinator

Alex S. Vitale is Associate Professor of Sociology at Brooklyn College. He has been studying police practices for over 25 years. He has written two books: City of Disorder: How the Quality of Life Campaign Transformed New York Politics, and The End of Policing. He is a member of the New York State Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights and consults human rights groups, police departments, and community based organizations internationally. He is frequently quoted in the media and his op/eds and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Daily News, US Today, The Nation, Truthout, VICE News, and The Gotham Gazette.

Christian Covington is an attorney who has worked with local community groups on issues of police accountability for more than twenty years. Born and raised in Queens, Christian has worked on criminal justice issues for the New York City Council, the New York City Mayor’s Office and the Texas State Senate.
