Katrina reid
Katrina Reid is a director, choreographer, dancer, performing artist, and producer with The Notice Blog. They collaborate with a range of artists, who explore performance at the center and edges of dance, theater, ritual, and film. Currently based in New York, her research is anchored in the diasporic experiences of a Caribbean daughter.
They craft art projects that are an exploration of, and in conversation with, the histories of black performance -- re: improvisation, experimentation, and non-linear narratives. Katrina’s work has been presented at the Queens Museum, ISSUE Project Room, the Knockdown Center, Current Sessions, AUNTS at NYU Skirball & AUNTS at Beach Sessions, the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Florida A&M University, and as a 2016-2017 Dancing While Black Fellow with Angela’s Pulse and Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX).

There are often times I'm reminded of my great grandfather's lessons in practicing joy and compassion for others, just by hearing his own laugh echoing in my own. And through the nostalgic tears of memories, I'm healed. I want to remind people of this kind of healing. Of this kind of haunting.
a good haunting.
So, I edited a quick little clip of my Cinematography work on Jean-Sebastien Surena's "Quarantined Thoughts," directed by Suswana Chowdhury. Enjoy.
It’s been nearly a year since I’ve first biked with Nyle, Aisha, Katrina on a Warriors Bike Run.
Think the 1979 cult classic “The Warriors,” except we bike from the Bronx - all the way back down to Coney Island for a showdown between the finalists.
And I’m finally releasing a cut of what I shot on my iPhone that night.
Btw, our crew was the Joint Council - we dressed as retired day-traders-turned-pot enthusiasts - Because you dress for the job you WANT. J/K. No Rowling.

Here’s some test footage for an upcoming project. I figured it’d need a decent tune to accompany it. And two hours later, this came out. 🖤
Over the years, I’ve made countless little short songs for myself, friends, loved ones, clients - even dates.
Some have words.
Some don’t.
Many are in a cappella.
They aren’t the most polished.
But they’re original.
And they’re me.
Why Does the President have an African Accent "Willow?"
So, why does president Sasha Obama II have an accent in Willow? Find out in this video clip from one of our panel events, “Willow” Featurette Screening + Panel Discussion "After the Revolution: Re-Imagining Black Utopia" Support us at: bit.ly/willowhorror
Katrina (@kattyrealness) joined “Willow” earlier this year as producer and production manager. They are a dancer and performing artist based in New York, by way of Georgia.
In a world, that literally runs on the blood of Black and Brown bodies, a new day has finally come.. at a price. A vivid retelling of Audrey Lorde’s adage: “the Master’s tools shall never dismantle the master’s house” - ‘Willow’ explores a less innocuous understanding of American society, through exploitation, relationships and capitalism.

I'm feeling so much gratitude for the work I'm doing right now.
On Tuesday, I got the opportunity to co-direct & shoot with my producer/co-director buddy Pierre Jean Gonzalez on an immensely powerful piece that tackles gender & sexuality in Bomba.
Here’s a film that I’m REALLY proud of: “Release.” I co-directed, edited and DP’d (director of photography) on it. And I was smart enough to ask for help from Katrina Reid (1st AD/ Production Manager), Dominik Czaczyk (Gaffer/2nd Camera) & Sultan Ali (Grip/2nd AC). After nearly two months of pre-production, we managed to turn two days of shooting into a masterpiece.
The selected poem “Georgia Mud” is from 𝘛𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘯: a collaborative work by writers/performers #LaurieCarlos , Jessica Hagedorn, Robbie McCauley collectively known as "Thought Music"
An experimental dance film
A meditation on shadows and light
An interplay of repetition and flipped perspectives
A call and response between black creatives

Centering Black Spaces, memory, joy, flexing, the fluidity and deconstruction of gender and so much more - these are exactly the kind of things I love supporting and producing with The Notice Blog
